Earth Day Bonus

Previous post on Earth Day 2012 is here

I have no idea what the words in this song mean but it's the images of nature in this time lapse video that are so stunning and worth sharing.

I love the shots of the birds as they take their first free fall flight from the nest.

is the front cover of Pope Benedict's book

Some quotes from Pope Benedict on the environment from here
and his new book here.  Eco-spirituality and Pope Benedict get a thumbs up.
(See I'm not totally in dissent !)

Oops , I almost forgot to include the Canticle of Praise for Creation from the Patron Saint of Ecology St Francis of Assisi...

"Most High, all-powerful, good Lord! Yours are the praises, the glory and the honour and all blessing. To you, alone, Most High, do they belong, and no human is worthy to mention your name.

"Praised be you, my Lord, with all your creatures, especially Sir Brother Sun, Who is the day and through whom you give us light.

And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendour; And bears the likeness to you, Most High One.

"Praised be you, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars; in heaven you formed them clear and precious and beautiful.

"Praised be you, my Lord, through Brother Wind, and through the air, cloudy and serene, and every kind of weather, through whom you give sustenance to your creatures.

"Praised be you, my Lord, through Sister Water, who is very useful and humble and precious and chaste.

"Praised be you, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom you light the night, and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.

"Praises be you, my Lord, through our Sister Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces fruit with colored flowers and herbs."

St. Francis realised that nothing exists autonomously.

 Thought for the day :

Before you’ve finished your breakfast this morning, you’ll have relied on half the world’ – Martin Luther King Jr.

So I pray that we all become more aware of that intimate connection and so we have a divine mandate to care for each other.
