In this new video, below, Fr. Richard Rohr, ecumenical teacher, author and founder of the Centre for Action and Contemplation, shares his perspective on silence "as the only thing broad enough and deep enough to hold all of the contradictions and paradoxes of full reality and our own reality too.

99.9% of the known universe is silent, and it is in this space that the force fields of life and compassion dwell and expand. We can live there."

One addition and one advance warning - the presenter makes a mistake in the introduction when she gives the title of Rohr's latest book. ! She should have said Immortal Diamond !

After the presenters introduction, there are approximately two minutes of intentional silence before Richard Rohr appears, just in case you think there is something wrong with the video !

This presentation came from a Festival of Faiths held this May, in Louisville Kentucky, an annual event that celebrates the religious diversity of our faiths and community, promotes unity and strengthens the role of religion in society. Its stated aim is to celebrate the diversity of spiritual practices, expresses gratitude for our unity, and strengthens the role of faith traditions in our community. The Festival allows people of many different faith traditions to come together, share meaningful dialogue, and identify commonalities and differences, all while working on projects that address common concerns.
